Bungalow (c. 1930)
Located adjacent to the campus is a one-story bungalow, constructed about 1930, and acquired by John H. Jenkins in 1977 to provide housing for the Jenkins University Project. It was built when the lot was owned by Mrs. Mary Elizabeth (Bledsoe) Bounds (1874-1945), who was widowed while her children were still young and who worked as a seamstress in Tehuacana. From 1945 to 1961 it was owned by the Posey family and from 1961 to 1973 by the Franklin family. In the 1970s and early 1980s, it was home to preservationists Don Rhodes and Mike Wolfe, who called it the “Little House”. They worked for Jenkins and led hands-on efforts to repair and rehabilitate campus buildings, while researching, documenting, and archiving the history of Tehuacana.
